Tonight is a hot Saturday on the Towson University campus, as kids stumble into their dorms while the vibration of rap music spreads through the walls. Classic, right?? But its cold and windy and I'm definitely not in the mood to spend an hour getting ready...so I'm staying in with the real homies, netflix and some skinny pop.
In all seriousness, a few hours earlier while I was waiting for my friend to finish getting ready to go out, I randomly had an idea. I saw at my desk, turned some David Dobrik on, and got to going. After about 30 minutes, a collection of short notes lay scattered in front of me. A collection of beautiful words that ring true through every inch of the universe.
I made kindness notes!!!!! Basically all I did was cute up a blank piece of computer paper into 15 smaller ones, and wrote short quotes that personally really help me on my bad days. It took like no time to do this, yet the payoff could be astronomical. No, it wont stop wars or end world hunger, but acts of kindness shouldn't be judged on the size of their impact. Whether it helps one person or 100,000 people, every single shred of kindness shared is a miracle in and of itself. How many times has someone been a little extra kind to you and it put you in such a better mood? Whether its the cashier at a grocery store, one of your professors, a friend, or even a stranger, we all have the ability to make someones day a little brighter. Not only do we have that ability, we also have a responsibility to do our part in creating a better world. As a 19 year old college freshman, it doesn't really seem like I alone have the power to do anything. But again, that's where people discouraged and don't try because they're afraid of failure. But no act of kindness is insignificant. If everyone in the world just made kindness a little more of a priority, just imagine how beautiful the world would be! We have the capacity to create the world we all wished live in, and that's a gift. So I challenge everyone who read this to make that effort and a little more spread kindness to everyone you meet. Not only will you be helping others, but you're also helping yourself. There is no better remedy for a bad day than brightening someone else's :)
Stay tuned for my next post! I love you guys! <3
